Fringed Brome

Description

Fringed Brome is a native, cool season, perennial bunchgrass that is adapted to many soils and elevations.  It does best on moist sites and higher elevations (6,000 and above) and can tolerate poorly drained soils.  It is associated with forest lands in a wide range of states.  It is a very palatable grass for livestock and wildlife.  Its main growth periods are when soils are cooler (spring and fall).  It is typically used in subalpine reclamation work but makes a beautiful ornamental grass as well.  Typically germination takes 10 – 14 days when conditions are right.

Varieties: None, hand collections and VNS growouts
