Threesquare

Threesquare is a native, cool-season, rhizomatous, perennial, sod-forming plant in the sedge family.   It is found throughout North America below 6,500 feet in floodplains, along stream banks and ditches, around the margins of ponds, and in marshy areas.  It usually grows in standing water 4 to 6 inches deep.  It can tolerate saline and alkaline conditions as well as fresh water.  Threesquare is excellent for soil stabilization and reclamation in wetland and riparian areas.  Its seed provides food for ducks and other wetland birds.
