Creeping Foxtail

Cool season, long-lived, strongly rhizomatous sod-former adapted to wet or periodically wet soils such as meadows, waterways, or ranges in the subalpine zone. Tolerates acidic and salty soils and is very palatable and nutritious. Frequently used as pasture grass on wet meadows. Typically germinates in 10 – 14 days when conditions are right.

Variety available – Garrison.  Produces dense, vigorous rhizomes. Establishes and persists well on poorly drained soils. (Released 1959, source of ecotype: McLean County, ND, from the former USSR).  Previous scientific name(s): Alopecurus ventricosus
