Buffalograss

Description

Description

Buffalograss is a native, warm-season, stoloniferous, sod-forming grass.   It makes a good low-traffic lawn and can be substituted for non-native warm season grasses like bermudagrass, St. Augustine, and zoysia.  It is slow to establish, but is long-lived.  An important component of the native shortgrass prairie, buffalograss is very palatable to wildlife and to all classes of livestock and maintains good nutritional quality after it cures.  Its dense root system helps control erosion.
